Fellow make money online blogger and John Chow parody John Cow is down and is redirected to instead a page with this message:
I’m not an expert on pointing out whether this is a scam/joke or not, but that’s what’s going on. If he is just playing a joke (he has pulled an early april fool’s joke once) than it’s pretty smart. Act like you’re site is hacked, reel in money from donations, and move on. Not that I would call the Cow such an evil blogger!
Hopefully, John Cow is able to rejoin us soon without letting the hacker get too much money! If you’d like to donate to “save” John Cow, their is conveniently a Paypal donate button at the top of the page. He should be able to contact hosting and shut that scam down.
I’ll edit this post when I hear any information from the Cow!

Lol the cow is so freaking good at generating publicity. Let’s hope that this is one of his brilliant tactics!

I bet it is. The donation money goes to a cownapper [ at ] johncow.com. And you can only donate 1 buck with button
so I guess it’s a joke. Let’s wait
Thanks for posting this.

Yes!
I still can’t belive you’re 15 and interested in internet marketing and so on
Do you have friends at high school doing doing the same thing? Very impressive

Thanks.
And no one that I know of is into that kind of stuff at my school. But then again, I don’t really hang around with other internet geeks like me.

I think that the cow’s idea is great linkbait. I gave him a buck for being creative
11-6-2007 20:39:50
The cut out letters was a really creative idea.
11-6-2007 23:12:08
I also gave him a buck for the creativity of it. I love that he is ok to poke fun at everyone including himself!

Really brilliant and evil marketing strategy..haha
Check out my post about it : http://bloggers-journey.com/blogging-news/the-truth-of-johncowcom-being-hacked/

I’m guessing it’s some kind of PR stunt.

It will work as long as he doesn’t leave the hacked message up too long….too much longer and his paid advertisers are going to get mad.
