Hey kids, it’s me Bush subbing in for my girl Casey once again!

So look – My friends always ask me a ton of questions when they decide to buy a computer. And I usually answer all of them with the same response…

Don’t buy a computer – Build your own.

Unless you’re trying to hook yourself up with a laptop, you really should build your own computer. Most of the benefits of building your own computer are lost when you’re dealing with laptops. Benefits like what? –

  1. PRICE – If you want to have a quality computer, it will be cheaper to build one yourself. Outside of the software that goes on your computer, (XP and Word I’m talking about which you probably have lying around anyway), spending $500 on your own computer will go farther than $500 when you buy a computer from a retailer.
  2. QUALITY – That $500 often doesn’t get you the best parts when you’re buying a Dell or an eMachine or whatever the brand of the day is. When you pick your own parts, you make the decisions on what goes in so you get the benefit of reading QUALITY reviews from power computer builders.
  3. UPGRADEABILITY(sp) – This is a HUGE one that plays both into price and quality. The worse thing about buying a retail computer is that you can’t do much to it. When you build your own computer, you can upgrade basically everything AND you have the space in your computer case to do it (since custom cases are a lot roomier than retail computers). You can buy HDs, more RAM, a faster CPU, WHATEVER – And extend your computer a lot LOT longer.
  4. KNOWLEDGE is POWER – Computer retail/repair people are essentially the mechanics of the tech world. What this means is they can charge you outrageous prices for basically NOTHING. If your computer goes down and you need to give it to them to “recover” it, they’ll do no more than put in the original XP disc but often charge you an arm and a leg for it. When you build your own computer, you take that power away from them. If something goes wrong, you can fix it yourself AND for COST. (meaning just the price of the parts)

So I think that list is enough right? It seems these days all I do is build computers and I just finished a build for a friend of mine – Decent HD, Core 2 Duo CPU, 2 GB Ram… And look, if you ever want some help bulidng your own rig – just e-mail me! I LOVE doing this stuff!

I apologize for today’s downtime! It shouldn’t happen for a while now, I unexpectedly exceeded my bandwidth usage but that problems been fix. It seems my bad luck has gotten the best of me this week! First, my computer is in the shop because I can’t even get to the log in screen; I’ve experienced the blue screen “of death”. So, this means I’m using the family computer- a mac. I really don’t like it! I’m going nuts not being able to roll over in my bed and sit at my own precious computer! It’s just not the same when you’re using a different computer. Plus, I can’t browse all the sites I like- because I’m so used to just clicking on them in the live bookmarks and can’t remember each one I check; I can’t even log in to some sites because I’m used to having my password saved, and it just plain sucks!

Anyways, enough rambling. I have no idea when I’ll get my computer back, hopefully by the end of the week or I think I’ll go a little insane. But, no worries! This week’s all covered. Bush Mackel will be guest blogging, plus a review of a fellow blogger’s site and the announce of a new blog launch coming soon! (Don’t worry it’s not in the Make Money Online niche!)

Sorry that News Notion seems a little slow this week!

Is getting into the Make Money Online blogging niche really the right niche for you? Here’s how you can find out:

Do you even like blogging?

Blogging is a lot more work than it seems like. It’s more than regularly publishing new and quality content. And even that is a lot of work! Most bloggers stress the importance of liking to blog to be able to blog. If you don’t it will be 100 times harder. Aside from liking to blog you also have to have a lot of free time and commitment. You have got to be ready to take on a challenge!

Do you have an original idea?

There are SO many make money online blogs these days it’s impossible to keep up with them all. Only a select few will make it to the top. Some make it big by providing tools, proving they are an expert in the niche, spoofing a blog name, or guest blogging like crazy. So unless you have a unique way of getting people to remember your site, don’t bother. Quality content is only half the job!

Are you willing to shell out money?

The MMO niche is so competitive these days that unless you do have an original idea, you’ll have to spend some money on promotion. On top of that, branding is extremely important to getting people to come back, and unless you have designing skills you’ll have to hire someone at least for a logo and later on a nice unique theme. A contest is a good way to attract attention to your blog; the more expensive/unique the prize the more attention you’ll get.

Do you know how to make money online?

It doesn’t make sense to start a blog about something you don’t know how to do. Not only will it make it hard to come up with good content but you’ll look pretty dumb. We don’t want the MMO blog niche to become [more of] a joke ! The reason John Chow makes so much money online is because he’s a declared expert in the niche, and every month he proves it.

The make money online blog niche has grown extremely competitive. Every day someone starts a new MMO blog thinking they’ll be able to make money from it. Here’s the thing: You don’t have to start a make money online blog to make money online from a blog! As long as you can passionately write about something consistently then you’ll make money from a blog. Whether it’s a travel blog, photography blog, gaming blog, anything! Just find something you’re into and start writing! A blog is like a website, if it’s popular people will want to advertise on it. And popularity begins with good content.
