A couple of weeks ago, I somehow stumbled upon this really neat idea called AdIcons. It allows you to sell small 16×16 favicon sized spots. Though the plugin is far from perfect, if developed it could be so much better. But, I’m going to try it out anyways.
If you’d like a spot head over to the Contact page and drop me an e-mail with the following info:
- Your Name
- Picture of favicon/icon (size is 16×16)
- URL of your website
- Ad Text
- Desired spot (example: Row 2, Column 2 would be the center)
Then I’ll give you my paypal information and you’re set. A spot for the month is just $3, and you can buy as many spots as you’d like.
Hopefully, this works out well!

I’d taken a look at that plugin before. It’s an interesting one, although i’m still not sure whether to give it a shot or not.
Nice plugin..
But what if people start using favicon of popular sites like google, youtube or any other because users would tend to click more (or not? I don’t know) on those icons?
Well, I’ll try it out for ya and let you know how it performs.
I won’t let them since the image belongs to that company/site. They’ll have to use their own image/favicon.
Cool, you can consider it a community service! :p
Don’t be afraid and buy a spot and you can see how it performs too.
The only problem is that most people don’t have 16×16 banners ready. You should consider trying with 125×125 banners, or some other format people might have laying around
Yeah this thing definitely was not a success. Haha. I’m planning to remove it and try and sell some buttons.
