I’ve decide to get rid of Kontera Content Links on my blog. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, they were the green double underlined words that appeared in posts. I felt they were too intrusive and they made me less than a dollar with around 7 clicks. Since I’ve recently sold ad spots on the sidebar, I decided to balance the amount of ads out by tossing something else so that the blog wasn’t cluttered with ads everywhere. Kontera was making me the least amount of money therefore it had to go.
You can go ahead and start dancing now.

I would say good riddance. I hate them wherever I see them. I just don’t know why.
Good choice. I recently got rid of Kontera on my blogs, too.
I dumped them but then realised that I had $45 in there. I’m wondering whether it’s worth sticking with it until I reach the payout level.
Same here. Kontera was garbage on all my sites.
Eh, the Kontera ads really didn’t bother me too much. My guess is like AdSense, you have to have a lot of search engine traffic to make’em worth your while though. *shrugs*
Now you won’t have to worry!
They were kinda annoying me. I’m glad I got rid of them.
How long did it take you to get that $45? I think you should continue and get that money.
But even so, I’m doing better on adsense.
It seemed better when we knew John Chow was making $1000 a month with them.
Yes, but he never actually makes $1000 per month. He has an agreement with them that he gets $1000 minimum. If the actual ads ever produce more revenue, then he would make that total.
Yeah, that’s what I had figured because he earns $1000 even each month. I doubt he actually makes even that much from those ads.
Not sure of the exact date I started, but it would have to be around 12 months!
i hate them too, glad to see them go
Oh well then, maybe not.
Good
I have been debating on whether or not to get rid of mine too. One of my sites does get almost 100% search engine traffic, and makes almost $200 a month on them… but it seems like my adsense income did go down a little bit since I started using them. It seems that on some sites the two do compete, whereas on others they don’t. I guess the trick is trying to figure out whether or not they’re making up for themselves vs. adsense… Or whether you can make up the difference with something different altogether! How have the sidebar spots worked out for you?
If Kontera is competing with adsense then I would probably take Kontera down. If Adsense income stays the same/increases and Kontera is also making money than definitely keep it.
My sidebar private ads spots (if that’s what you are talking about) are great. It’s steady income and makes more than adsense makes.
In line text ads pay out poorly and have super low CTR… too annoying for me as well
Yep, I’d never reach payout with Kontera.
