What are some of the easiest and cheapest ways to advertise your blog? Here are some extremely common ways to do so. Though they are really obvious, surprisingly some people still forget to do them.
Forums are a great way to stick an advertisement both in your signature and in an advertising section of the forum. Make sure to get involved in the community a bit first though, or else you will get an undeserved bad rep!

Forums are a good one, but I’d say that if you join up to a forum with the sole purpose of advertising your blog, then some bad rep is probably deserved.
I started putting together a list of forums that allow dofollow signature links. They are a good place to start as you have to potential to double your benefit.

I do think that commenting does have benefits aside from the obvious ones. That is: even if people aren’t reading them, they are worth it for the commenter!
Commenting is an expression of brief thoughts in reaction to what you read. They are like mini-drafts, if you like, that can be combined to become a more comprehensive article or blog post later on.
