Over at my own site, I wrote a post a little while ago about certain bloggers earnings. The post was an interesting one imho because it pointed out how a site can be succesfully monetized through different revenue streams. For instance, John Chow seems to make most of his income from sponsored reviews but Everton over at Connected Internet seemed to make his money from AdSense. (And I’m talking about literally thousands of dollars here). Interesting right?
Well for anyone who has ever tried AdSense on their blog, you know that it’s not as easy as just plugging in the code and getting money. There are certainly little tips that you can employ to increase your AdSesnse revenue and in order to increase my own knowledge on the subject, I shot Everton a private message on his forums on the subject. In response to the question, he went above and beyond the call of duty and wrote a FANTASTIC post that will surely help anyone trying to make it with AdSense ads.
So hey, make you sure read Why My Adsense Earnings are Better Than Other Blogs over at Connected Internet!

we always have thought that adSense his a start-up in the make money online, but not a great source of income, a $1k tops, so this post is a little inspirational for us, thanks Bush
I make next to nothing from adsense. I don’t really think I get enough traffic to get a decent return.
As a general comment, I would imagine that online money making blogs would struggle to do decent figures with adsense, because most of the ads that would be served on these sites, would be prepared by people who really know how to work the system?
Looking at your site and it’s Alexa ranking, I’d say concentrate on traffic first. After that you need to probably do some extensive tracking and testing with your ads and take off the ones that aren’t performing.
And finally, check out the following link. I think a couple of Everton’s suggestions apply to you to. BTW, are you getting a lot of search engine traffic? I remember him telling me that was crucial.

I used to make a lot of money from adsense, and then google shut me off for a particular keyword and BAM, nothing. Luckily, I diversify.
I guess I make a fair amount from adsense. I’m close to my paycheck. How much have you made Bush?
I need to find a “particular” keyword. (#):)
I basically have two sites that I have monetized, my blog of course and the other site I have linked off of my blog.
For my blog, I’ve only had AdSense on since the 10th of this month so I’m obviously still in the process of tweaking everything. And by everything I mean everything. I’ll write more about this on my site later (early next month) but it’s really nothing to write home about… Though preliminary findings are very optimistic.
On my other site, well, I’m not really focusing on it anymore, and especially now with my blog I have all but forsaken it. Though while I WAS working on it, I was pulling in around $30/mo from it in AdSense and that was still with very little traffic especially compared w/ my blog.
Now I’m curious Grace, you say you’re pullin in “close to [your] paycheck”…Care to share?
My site is a month old tomorrow, so building traffic is a priority. I guess my main focus is trying to post meaningful content right now, and let the rest follow.
Well first, congrats on the anniversary!! And nice job on focusing on content. But hey, make sure you let people know about your great content because as great as it is, it won’t mean anything if no one is seeing it. *nod*
Ta. I’m thinking of having party pies and sausage rolls to celebrate!
Free food? I’m there haha. Congrats on your first month!
Cheers!
I never said the food was free though… I may need to put on a cover charge!
I make most of my cash from affiliate programs. It’s all about integrity. I refuse to put up an affiliate ad that wont be useful to my readers. They respect that, and it pays off (literally).
You should check out my blog. It’s right up your alley!
You’re learning quick. (#):)
