Every day I read my favorite make money online blogs. John Chow, John Cow, Zac Johnson, Problogger, Tyler Cruz, and a ton more. Really, I spend half the time reading their content, and the other half analyzing and admiring their blog layout.
Then, I look at News Notion… and cringe. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve changed up my layout, and I’m getting pretty sick of my theme with each passing day. Look at those blogs, and then look at mine. It’s a wonder why I still have any readers left!
Don’t get me wrong, the theme is pretty nice. It’s plain and simple. But, blogs have gotten so competitive these days and it all starts with having an impressive layout. And I just don’t see that with News Notion! When I first look at my site’s layout, it makes me feel like I’m an amateur blogger, and this is an amateur blog.
I don’t want to give off that vibe anymore! The only way I’ll be able to succeed is to continue to stay in the game. If that means throwing up some money for a nice layout as opposed to a free theme, I’ll do it! When people look at News Notion, they should be able to say, “Wow, this is a pretty nice theme. They must have spent some money on it. I bet they are really serious about this.” That’s what I want to hear.
I guess you know what is going to come next, eh? It won’t happen over night, and I doubt this week. But… soon!

Hey good luck finding YOUR theme.
I can’t afford to pay for on right now so am slowly learning and amending mine one small bit at a time.
You must be careful and not get caught with that same old identical theme as all the big players though, you know what I mean!
Good luck finding and changing themes, Casey. I’m changing to a much more professional one very soon as well. I already have it all set up, I just need the right time to activate it. Best of luck to you!
I like their themes though!
Thanks, can’t wait to see your new layout! I’ve found someone to work with, we’ve just been having problems communicating.
hmm they have a very good theme..nice! hope you find a new one
Theres nothing wrong with your layout at all. Looks clean tp me. Yeah, go ahead and look a john chows, john cow, shoemoney and whoever else. Yeah, they do have nice lay-outs. It’s not hard to get a nice layout when your blog is pulling in six figures a year.
Casey, maybe you should ask one of your friends from school who has a little design experience. You might be surprised what they can come up with it.
Everythings under control, don’t worry…
Casey, I don’t think your blog page is particularly ugly.
I did find out some information however that might help.
It’s simply that people tend to first scan a page on a computer screen on the left side of the page, int the shape of an upside down right angle triangle.
something you might want to consider if your running pay per click ads. James
Thanks James! This post was before my redesign though, I do not think this design is ugly.
