I decided it was time to work on spicing up my blog to make it better than it is. I did some research and found some nice and useful plugins to add. I also added and changed a few things to my blog too. They aren’t really noticeable so I’ll tell you what I did.
- Google Sitemap Created – This plugin updates and creates sitemaps which makes it easier for spiders to index posts and pages.
- MyAvatars Plugin – This is supposed to allow you to add mybloglog avatars to your comments. Though, I’m not sure if I got it working.
- Related Posts – This shows related posts to a post. Pretty self-explanatory.
- Database Backup Plugin – This allows me to download backups of my blog in case anything happens. Not planning on anything to happen though!
- Contact Page – I created a Contact page in case you are interesting in personally contacting me for feedback, a contribution, or if you are interested in buying ad space or a link exchange, etc etc.
- Contact Form Plugin – Allows me to avoid spam e-mails and creates a nice little form for you to fill out instead. And there is a challenge question to make sure you are a human!
- Permalinks Changed – I decided to change my permalinks (links to posts) set to the date and the name of the post. They used to be based on post number, like /p=30. But, now they are a little lengthy but I think they are better. It also allows for the related posts plug in to work.
I think that’s about it. If you have any suggestions for useful plugins that I should use, leave me a comment, or use the new contact form!
